About this work

Description

The following papers relate mainly to two major initial grants towards the setting up of the Biochemistry Department, from the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research and the University Grants Committee. Pre-1960 correspondence re grant applications, including the grant awarded by the Wolfson Foundation in 1959, is to be found passim in D.1-D.42.

Also includes here is correspondence re a further application to the U.G.C. in 1966 and drafts of a letter to The Times on the general problem of the funding of scientific research.
