Description

The association of politics and sewing suggests there was much to repair in the constitution of the time. Button-making was a favourite pastime of King George III. Carlton House was the home of the Princess of Wales where she often held court with the Earl of Bute, her favourite minister

The Carlton House botchers One speech bubble uttered by one of the tailors: 'If we did not make some holes in the constitution we should have no business'; several sacks beneath the table are labelled 'money' and 'saved by cabbage' and numerous document rolls labelled 'remonstrances', 'petitions'; the scene is apparently set in 'The Taylors Hell' according to further lettering below the scene
