About this work

Description

Hydrophobia. Author's holograph MS. London In the autobiography in his 'Medical Portrait Gallery', 1840, Vol. 4, p. 30, the author states: 'I have since collected considerable materials for a complete history of Rabies in the dog and other animals, and of Hydrophobia in the human species, which it is my intention at no very distant period, to lay before the public'. He had already published the 'Substance of a clinical lecture on a case of Hydrophobia, delivered at the Charing Cross Hospital, Nov. 24, 1834'. Included is a 'Synopsis' (2 ll. 8vo. 18½ x 11 cm.) written by Pettigrew, hence it would seem that this MS. is the completed work, though it apparently was never published.
