Biographical note

Sir H. D. Littlejohn obtained his M.D. at Edinburgh University in 1847, and was professor of medical jurisprudence to the Royal College of Surgeons from 1855 to 1907. From 1862 to 1907 he was Medical Officer of Health to the City of Edinburgh and was knighted in 1895. He was professor of forensic medicine to his native University from 1897 to 1907, and had received an Hon. LL.D. in 1908.
