Description

Five declarations of trust relating to the transfer of charitable funds for the purposes of the Committee of the Seamen's Hospital Society:

The John H Luscombe Memorial Fund/Seamen's Hospital. Declaration of trust by Pietro Michelli on behalf of Clara Luscombe for £100 to be transferred to the Official Trustees of Charitable Funds for investment under Order of the Charity Commissioners, dated 18 February 1897. The dividends arising were to be passed to the Committee of the Seamen's Hospital Society for the benefit of sick seamen on leaving the hospital. Enrolled in the books of the Charity Commissioners 23 March 1897. Removed from the Register of Charities in 1995. It was a linked charity of the Seamen' s Hospital Society.

The American Victoria Jubilee Fund/Seamen's Hospital, Greenwich. Declaration of trust by Pietro Michelli on behalf of the American Victoria Jubilee Fund for £1000 to be transferred to the Official Trustees of Charitable Funds for investment under Order of the Charity Commissioners, dated 25 October 1897. The dividends arising were to be passed to the Committee of the Seamen's Hospital Society for the endowment of a bed in the branch hospital in the Royal Victoria and Albert Docks. Enrolled in the books of the Charity Commissioners 5 November 1897.

The Anne du Bois Memorial Fund/Seamen's Hospital, Greenwich. Declaration of trust by Pietro Michelli, Secretary of the Seamen's Hospital, on behalf of Esther du Bois for £45 to be transferred to the Official Trustees of Charitable Funds for investment under Order of the Charity Commissioners, dated 26 October 1902. The dividends arising were to be passed to the Committee of the Hospital for the benefit of sick seamen. Enrolled in the books of the Charity Commissioners 11 November 1902.

The Argonaut Fund/Dreadnought Seamen's Hospital, Greenwich. Declaration of trust by the hospital trustees for £1152.14.9 to be transferred to the Official Trustees of Charitable Funds for investment under Order of the Charity Commissioners, dated 22 February 1907. The dividends arising were to be passed to the Committee of the Seamen's Hospital Society for the purposes of that institution. Enrolled in the books of the Charity Commissioners 15 March 1907.

The Walter Adams Memorial Fund/Seamen's Hospital. Declaration of trust by Pietro Michelli for £64.1.0 to be transferred to the Official Trustees of Charitable Funds for investment under Order of the Charity Commissioners, dated 24 July 1907. The dividends arising were to be passed to the Committee of the Seamen's Hospital Society for sick seamen on leaving the hospital and in remembrance of the late Walter Adams, Assistant Secretary of the Society. Enrolled in the books of the Charity Commissioners 9 August 1907.

The archives were given to the library at Wellcome Collection by the Charity Commission in February 2016.

Ownership note

The records were not selected for permanent preservation by The National Archives as they did not fall within their selection criteria. They were presented to the Wellcome Trust by the Lord Chancellor under s.3(6) of the Public Records Act 1958 and thereby cease to be public records and become the property of the Wellcome Trust.
