About this work

Description

Three items relating to William IV. MS.8010/1-2 are both letters from William to Mr. Griffinhoofe, surgeon; the first introducing his physician, Dr. Halliday, and the second referring to the health of the Duchess of Kent following the birth of the Princess Victoria (later to be Queen Victoria). MS.8010/3 is an autograph of Queen Adelaide, on ornamental card.

Acquisition note

Nos.1-2 purchased from C.G. Griffenfoote, Cambridge, January 1928. No.3 transferred to the Library from Wellcome Historical Medical Museum, c.1939 (acc.91800); it carries the original accession number 24665, which indicates that it was purchased from E.E.S. in September 1910, but this is apparently an error as the accession register description for that number relates to a different item.
