    respectively, and that in a summary manner; and it shall be lawful to the said Judge of Police, Sheriff, or Magistrates, to subject the Offender in a Penalty not exceeding that imposed or allowed to be imposed by the said Three recited Acts, or by this Act, in respect of the Offence charged, and, in the event of such Penalty not being immediately paid, to commit the Offender to the Prison of Edinburgh, there to remain un- til the same shall be paid : Provided always, that no Offender shall be imprisoned for more that Twenty-one Days where the Penalty shall not exceed Forty Shillings, nor for more than Sixty Days where the Penalty shall exceed that amount : Provided also, that no Person shall be liable to the Payment of any Penalty imposed by virtue of this Act, or the Acts Third, Fourth, and Fifth before recited, unless complaint shall have been made within Six Months next after the commission of the Offence charged. SCHEDULE (B.) Dues to be levied on all Cattle brought to the Slaughter- Houses to be slaughtered: If brought by a Flesher renting a Booth: On each Bull, Segg, Ox, Cow, or Heifer, Sixpence. On each Sow, Hog, Boar, or Pig, Threepence. On each Calf, Threepence. On each Sheep or Lamb, One Penny. On each Stag or Deer, Threepence. If brought by a Flesher not renting a Booth: On each Bull, Segg, Ox, Cow, or Heifer, One Shilling. On each Sow, Hog, Boar, or Pig, Sixpence. On each Calf, Sixpence. On each Sheep or Lamb, Twopence. On each Stag or Deer, Sixpence. Note.—These Dues may be increased or diminished in the manner authorised by the Act.
