About this work
Description
This section (excluding K.33,35 & 36) comprises rare Society papers found in one of two boxes labelled 'Elliston'. They were originally deposited at the Wellcome Unit in Oxford in 1981 by George Lewis Causton Elliston, son of George Sampson Elliston who was a former Secretary and prominent member of the Society. Further information on their provenance and prior custodial history has not been found. Although not previously included in the Oxford Unit's published catalogues, the material was arranged by subject and described on index cards found in the box. This arrangement has been maintained and the index cards are filed with the papers they refer to. Some cross references have been added to compensate for flaws in the original subject arrangement. The original subject titles are in inverted commas.
Papers found in the other 'Elliston' box are listed in Section S. Elliston also deposited a set of The Medical Officer at the Oxford Unit. Vols 1-64 have been transferred to the Wellcome Library to fill in gaps in the library's collection.
