Description

Apuntes para la historia del hospital [Real de San Miguel de Belem] de Guadalajara. Dated and signed Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Fair copy with corrections, some in another hand; probably intended for publication. A detailed history of the hospital up to the ceremony of transfer to the Escuela de Medicina of Guadalajara on 1 December 1888. Similar material appears in Aguilar (1944), pp. 119-128, and in Muriel (1956-60), 1, pp. 257-262; but official documents relating to the rebuilding and funding of the hospital by Antonio Alcalde y Barriga [1701-92], Bishop of Guadalajara, and other documents relating to nineteenth-century changes in administration, as well as the speeches of the Governor of Jalisco, General Ramón Corona [1837-89] and the Director of the Escuela de Medicina Dr. Salvador Garciadiego [1842-1901] on its transfer are here quoted in extenso, though without reference to source.
