About this work

Description

Wimberley, Texas, U.S.A. has become a refuge for people suffering from environmental pollution because of its relatively clean air. The film shows the physical and psychological effects the illnesses that spring from sensitivity to such pollutants as diesel fumes, crop spray and formaldehyde. The victims' distress is agitated by job loss and radically altered in lifestyles. Isolation is a recurrent theme. They speak of the cynical and hostile attitudes they encounter in the medical profession. Group sessions combining medical treatment and social interchange provide sufferers with their only means of sympathetic communication.
