Description
Professor Christopher Frayling (Royal College of Art) reviews the influence of the Dracula, Frankenstein and Jekyll and Hyde stories on 20th century culture. The stories particularly appealed to the cinema, where they were reinterpreted in the light of world affairs. The anxieties of the U.S. Depression years, the cold war, the rise of science and the fears it engendered all found expression in reinterpretation of these myths. The programme is ilustrated with film clips.
