D., Professor of General Pa- thology in the University of Edinburgh. 3 Ely Place, Dublin, Dear Sir, December 7. 1839. Understanding that Dr Evory Kennedy is a Candi- date for the Chair of Midwifery in the University of Edin- burgh, I feel it a duty to bear testimony to the high charac- ter of that gentleman in the particular department of Medi- cal Science which he has so successfully cultivated. From personal experience as a late pupil in the Dublin Lying-in-Hospital, I have had abundant opportunities of witnessing the ability of Dr Kennedy in cases of difficulty requiring those qualities of a sound and judicious Practi- tioner of the Obstetric art, which are not to be acquired but by an extensive experience. While his happy command of language as a Lecturer, and the clearness of his demonstrations, added to his popular manner, have earned for him the just respect and admira- tion of the Pupils who have had the advantage of pursuing their Studies in the noble institution over which Dr Ken- nedy presides.
