Notes

In French
Two anatomical figures with French captions above, mounted on folio sheets. These figures are taken from a French version of the ten fugitive sheets issued by Ryff in 1541--probably the edition which Cushing was unable to trace (see Cushing, p. 22). They are printed on one side only of two folio half-sheets and correspond to Fol. B of the German ed. (Cushing II, -10), i.e. 'seated female showing viscera' and 'superficial anatomy male: front'. The latter is signed B and has the watermark of a vase, crowned, with one handle. Type and figures occupy a rectangle of 25 x 14 cm. Mounted separately below each figure is a Latin caption (measuring 3 x 13 cm. and 1 x 13 cm. respectively). As these are on quarto paper, they are evidently from another edition.
