Description
Journals West Indies, etc. Author's holograph MS. This MS. is a fair copy, compiled from his original diaries covering the period from 18 April, 1823, when he passed the examination for Assistant Surgeon in the Royal Navy, to 11 January, 1830 when he is about to sail for his second voyage to the West Indies. The paper has a dated water-mark 1827. This volume contains 'Voyage to the West Indies, and two years on the Station', 11 August, 1823 to 11 September, 1825. 'A year on the Home Station', 11 September, 1825 to 25 March, 1827. 'Journal on half-pay', 1 November, 1827 to 11 January, 1830. The first three leaves contain an added autobiographical note, headed 'Memo. Jan. 1st, 1877'.
