Description

German medical recipe and common place book, 16th-17th century. The volume is written in several hands. Ff.1-20 contain religious material. The remainder of the volume comprises recipes for the treatment of various complaints, including plague, ff.21-26v.; heart palpitatons, f.39v; chest pain, ff.56-57v.; toothache, f.64; throat complaints, ff.72-74; fever, ff.80-80v; worms, ff.91-92; cramp, f.110. Ff.133-149v. contains recipes for tonics and salves.

1 volume Paper with contemporary blind-stamped vellum binding, with the signature of Hans Wagner, Buchbinder, 2v, Lavingen, 1582. Coat of Arms in the centre of the covers. 10cm x 16.7cm. 199ff. Nealry all of the verso folios are blank.
