Biographical note

The Memorial Church was built to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the hospital and in memory of Dr and Mrs Crichton. The Church was designed by Edinburgh Architects Sydney Mitchell and Wilson and was build between 1890 and 1897. It was formally dedicated on 15 October 1897. The Church is non denominational and the first full time Hospital Chaplain, Reverend J. A. Gibson, was appointed in 1959.
