Plasmodium malariae malaria: nephrotic syndrome

Nephrotic syndrome This is a high power microscopic view of a glomerulus in a section of kidney from a child with Plasmodium malariae malaria. This is early glomerulosclerosis. There is condensation of the mesangium, with increased cellularity best seen in the lobules to the far left and far right of the picture. Many of the capillary loops are still unaffected (top). H&E stain.
