Count de Peltzer was due to marry Charlotte de Benskow on 20 June 1778, but was called away from Berlin to fight with his regiment against the Austrians in the War of the Bavarian Succession. She followed him accompanied by her mother and brother, and came across him in an inn at "Herstadt" (?) where he had been taken after being woumded in a sally. He died and she lost her mind (Sherlock, loc. cit.)
