Samples of items printed for Crichton Royal Hospital including: 1) Receipt for Dumfries and District Lunacy Board (printed by James Maxwell & Sons, but with R. Dinwiddie & Co. stamp on reverse), c.1918 2) Order of Service for Crichton Memorial Church, 1947 3) Two hospital brochures, c.1940s-1950s 4) Seven sample pages from registers and volumes with order information written on them. Samples include pages from Matron's Patient Book Women, Stores Ledger, Stores Supply Ledger, Assistant Matron's Night Report, Admission Book, Stores Petty Cash Book and Bakers Conversion Book. 5) Single foolscap page - Newspapers and Magazines, Crichton Royal in Account with Robert Dinwiddie & Co. Ltd., Dumfries, listing titles of daily, weekly, bi-weekly and monthly newspapers and magazines with costs and quantities and total amount, December 1972.

Biographical note

Diwiddies was a local printing firm, located on Dumfries High Street, which succeeded James Maxwell & Sons in 1920 as printers for Crichton Royal Institution. Some of these sample pages are from volumes which have not survived such as the Matron's Patient Book and Assistant Matron's Night Report.
