About this work

Description

These files include agendas, minutes, circulated papers, memoranda, reports and correspondence. They probably belonged to CM Wenyon who chaired the Committee from its inception in 1925. Items 1-9 were part of the main accession of WBSR records which had been stored in the basement of 183 Euston Road and were transferred to the Wellcome Archives when WFL moved out of the building in 198?. Items 10-11 were added at a later date and came via the WMMS deposited collections, and were transferred to the CMAC in May 1997 following the closure of the Enfield store. The Committee was composed of the Directors of the various sections of the Wellcome Research Institution, including the Chemical and Physiological Resarch Laboratories, and also representatives of the research side of BW&Co, including the Works Manager. It was set up for discussion of 'fundamental research', 'utilitarian research' and 'scientific and technical advice'. The files provide a good overview of the work being carried out or considered by both the firm and the WRI. They also include some monthly reports of BW&Co USA Experimental Research Laboratories in Tuckahoe.
