About this work
Description
Investigates the life and death of cells, examining the mechanisms that cause cells to die and the reasons for over-production of cells followed by correction, or cell death. This research has implications for the study of leukaemia and AIDS, the former resulting from the proliferation of leucocytes and the latter from a deficiency of T-cell lymphocytes. Contributors include Dr. Martin Raff (University College, London); Prof. Rita Levi Montalcini (Institute of Neurobiology, Rome) and Dr. Polly Matzinger (National Institutes of Health, Maryland). This is a lavish production which uses music and special film effects to create a drama out of the normal development process of living organisms.
