Description

Moll Cut-purse (Moll Cutpurse, Mary Frith, the Roaring Girl), thief and cross-dresser. In 1644 she was among several people discharged from the Bethlem Hospital having been judged to have recovered from insanity. Portrayed with an eagle on the upper left, a monkey on the right, and a lion in the left background
