Polarised light micrograph of a cross-section of skin on an old teaching slide. Collagen fibres are visible in yellow/green. Collagen is a protein commonly found in the skin, bone and connective tissues in the body. It provides strength and helps maintain elasticity. Width of image is 500 micrometres.
