About this work

Description

A silent educational film made under the supervision of the University of Chicago, aided by a grant from the Lederle Laboratories, Inc. Here we see in some depth a variety of factors involved in the diagnosis and treatment of scarlet fever. A small naked female child with the characteristic scarlet fever rash and 'strawberry tongue' is shown. There is a section on differential diagnoses which includes shots of other rashes including measles rash, koplik's spots and drug reactions illustrated here with a case of sulphathiazole rash. The film then goes on to show in detail the process for injecting an antitoxin and uses detailed graphs to show how antitoxin therapy aids recovery. We also see the Dick Test and active immunisation.
