Gentlemen, The Port Sanitary District of Bristol was permanently constituted on 1st August, 1894. It extends down the Bristol Channel to Swallow Point, and up Channel as far as the line of the Severn Tunnel, and comprises the deep water channel to the Port of Gloucester. Hence under special Orders, various super-added duties of inspection, con- trol and responsibility in regard to Cholera, Plague and Yellow Fever have, since 1890, devolved upon the Bristol Port Officers.
