Whooping Cough 11. Measles 12. Diphtheria 1. Pneumonia 1. Erysipelas 1. It was quite a satisfactory year for notifiable infectious disease. Tho two cases of Scarlet Fever which were not connected with each other gave rise to no secondary cases. The Whooping Cough and Measles occurred in the first six months of the yoar. During the second six months 1 case of Whooping Cough and 1 of Pneumonia were notified. One case of Whooping Cough developed Pneumonia and in another,serious complications developed and the child died. Beth of these cases were removed to the Isolation Hospital. The Diphtheria occurred in a child who had boon immunised 1^- years previously and as a result it was an exceedingly mild form and the patient made rapid recovery. Diphtheria Immunisation. There appears to be no proper appreciation by parents of the importance of having the young children protected against a disease which in the very young is so often fatal. Of the 250 or so children who became one year old in 1944 and 1945 only 88 are known to have been immunised at the end of the year, viz 35$, that is about 160 children of •'mom 1 to 2 years of age may not have been protected.
