    REPORT BY THE DIRECTORS OF THE DUNDEE ROYAL LUNATIC ASYLUM TO THE ANNUAL GENERAL COURT, JUNE 1 883. The Directors of the Dundee Royal Lunatic Asylum, in laying before their constituents and the public their Sixty-third Annual Report, have much pleasure in directing attention to the fact that the old Buildings have now been abandoned, the removal of the inmates to the new Asylum having been effected in safety and without any serious difficulty by the middle of last October. They regret, however, to have to state that pos¬ session of the new Asylum, so far as it has been completed, has been entered upon under financial circumstances of a very embarrassing character. When the erection of the new Asylum was decided upon, the value of the old property was estimated at £65,000 sterling. The Directors consequently considered themselves fully justified in entering on the new undertaking; but no sooner had a commencement been made than a period of commercial depression set in, which has proved so protracted that the old Asylum and its site have been unsaleable. As yet it has been found impossible to realise any portion of it at a price at all approaching its estimated value, and the interest of the debt hitherto incurred in the erection of the new Asylum,
