About this work

Description

Lord Lister was the first Chairman of the British Institute of Preventive Medicine from the date of its formal association in 1891. He subsequently became Chairman of the Governing Body when this was established, and after his retirement in 1904 he was appointed President of the Institute.

These letters are those from him to officers of the Institute (mainly Sir H E Roscoe). The letters to Robert Koch appear to have been acquired at a later date as items of historical interest.
