    REPORT OF THE FOR THE YEAR 1858, Gentlemen, I have the honour to lay before you the Fifth Annual Medic Report of the condition of the Asylum and its Inmates, togeth with the usual Statistical Tables. On January 1st, 1858, the number of Inmates was 297 (1? Males and 164 Females); in the course of the year 90 Patie were admitted ; 65 were discharged, of whom 41 were recovered and 31 died. The number of admissions was less than during any y since 1850, a circumstance not owing to any decrease of t malady in the County, (as the Quarterly Returns from the vari Unions exhibit a steady increase,) but was mainly due to t Asylum having been so crowded that, on several occasions, Patiei were unable to be admitted, and the knowledge of this, undoubted operated in deterring the Officers of some of the Unions fr< making applications for the admission of Patients.
