Description
Penicilliosis
This is a high power view of Penicillium marneffei, a dimorphic fungus, in the liver. The yeasts have been stained black with a silver stain. They are mostly budding and closely resemble Histoplasma capsulatum. However, a few yeasts have a transverse line, indicating a split, which is indicative of Penicillium sp. infection. This was proven on culture. Grocott silver stain.
