Papers relating to the history of the development, construction and use of ceramic culture vessels used in the production of penicillin in 1940. Comprises Heatley's correspondence with Dr Francis Celoria who was researching the history of the terminology and classification of ceramics and pottery and the company James Macintryre & Co of Burslem which made these particular vessels. Plus text of information on the vessels and photocopies of diagrams and photographs of the vessels and production process.
