Biographical note
Alderson, Sir Edward Hall (1787-1857), law reporter and judge, baptized in Great Yarmouth. In 1805, he went to Cambridge University to study Mathematics and Classics. In 1811, Alderson was called to the bar of the Inner Temple. In 1830, Alderson was appointed as a judge of the court of common pleas. He was popular with the bar and juries. In 1857, he died of brain disease. A full description of his life and work is to be found in the Dictionary of National Biography.
