About this work
Description
A visual record of the primitive surgical and ceremonial initiation of young male aboriginals, taken during an anthropological expedition to the Warburton Range in Western Australia. Reel 6 of a series of films illustrating many aspects of aboriginal life and traditions made by the anthropologists E.O. Stocker and N.B. Tindale between 1931 and 1935, of which the originals are held at the Barr Library of the University of Adelaide. Of great ethnographic and anthropological interest, but, like its companion piece, "Subincision of the Urethra", not for the squeamish.
