Description
Subsequently the church of Sant'Urbano alla Caffarella. The print shows the ancient temple with the spaces between the columns at the front filled in with brick walls and windows. A washing line with a drying garment is shown outside one of the upper windows. To the left is a substantial wall identified by Piranesi as part of the house of the aedituus (temple warden)

Veduta del tempio di Bacco, inoggi chiesa di S. Urbano, distante due miglia da Roma fuori della Porta di S. Sebastiano. Esso è il più intero di questa forma che sia rimaso a Roma ai giorni nostri, si nell' esterno che nell' interno. La sua ara si conserva peranche nel pronao colla inscrizione ̔Εστιαι Διονυσου Απρωνιανοϛ ̔Ιροφαντης: ara di Bacco, Aproniano sacerdote. 1. Muri fra gl'intercolonni del pronao, e barbacani fatti da Urbano VIII per riparar la rovina del tempio. 2 Chiavi delle catene di ferro impoegatevi per lo stesso fine. 3.
