About this work

Description

Colour-enhanced transmission electron micrograph showing a migratory phagocytic cell in the centre of the field which contains a number of phagocytic vacuoles. It is moving between the layers of collagen fibrils that make up the stromal lamellae. To the top of the field an active stromal fibroblast contains a number of mitochondria. This field is approximately 18 microns across.
