About this work

Description

Material in this series was accumulated by Mind and kept in a cupboard known as the 'Archive cupboard'. Much of the material was originally from the library run by Mind's Information Unit and was moved to the 'Archive cupboard' when it was no longer deemed to be current. This material had been organised in the library using a set of subject headings and when it was transferred to the 'Archive cupboard' it was kept alphabetically in subject files according to the headings. The subject headings form the basis of the catalogue.

Since the subject files consist of material transferred from Mind's library they mostly contain published books, leaflets and grey literature either created by Mind or of interest to Mind.

Records produced by some Mind departments were also placed in the 'Archive cupboard' if they were thought to be worthy of preservation and this material forms the Mind sub-series of the subject files series (SAMIN/B/80). The Mind sub-series contains a wide range of material relating to Mind's work such as details of Advice Unit casework, Mind's comments on and responses to pertinent issues and photographs of Mind events over the years.

The catalogue follows an alphabetical sequence apart from where material has been discovered or accrued at a later date and has been added to the catalogue. Not all reference numbers have been used.
