About this work

Publication/Creation

1921-1950

Physical description

1 painting : watercolour ; sheet 25.3 x 35.3 cm

Lettering

A very mild case of nerve leprosy. The only sign was loss of sensation in the patch shown by the inked-in circle. The nerve supplying the skin was slightly thickened and a few leprosy bacilli were found inside the nerve. A case like this will very often heal up spontaneously if the patient is in good health. From Dr. E. Muir's original

Notes

One of a series of paintings of the effects of leprosy based on paintings and photographs in the work of Ernest Muir, op. cit.
