The first 3 leaves are very badly damaged by damp, and the first leaf has been pasted down on to the upper cover. Some leaves have been cut out at the end. The author served mainly in India, and was present in the Afghan War 1878- 1880. He was promoted Surgeon General R.A.M.C. in 1899. Presented 1964. (310910) 3705. — Note-book containing lists of Officers in the Indian Medical Services, movements of Regiments, rough maps, medical notes, etc. Author’s holo graph MS. 24 pp. folio. 36^ x 23^ cm. 1876-1906. Original boards. Mainly written in 1876-1879, the later dates, 1904-1906, are probably by another hand. Presented 1964. (310910) 3706-3708. —Notes, press-cuttings, etc. made and collected during the Autumn Manoeuvres on Salisbury Plain, relating to the Army Medical Services. Author’s holograph MSS. 3 vols. obi. 8vo. 12x18^ cm. 1898. Original boards; with brass clasps, one missing. Some leaves have been torn out in each of the three volumes. Presented 1964. (310910) 3709. Palgrave, and R. Blakelock Smith, and others. 5411. 8vo. v.s. 1859. Unbound, loose in cloth covers labelled as above. Written mainly on sheets of 8vo. note-paper, many embossed with the crest of the Oxford & Cambridge Club. The letters are as under: Buckland (Francis Trevelyan) [1826-1880]. These notes were probably compiled for Ogle’s Paper in ‘The Lancet’ 1859: i, pp. 156-158, ‘On a case in which the operation of castration was resorted for the cure of epilepsy’.
