Author’s holograph MS. 43 11. 4to. 22 x17 cm. 1701. Original paper covers. A diary of the author’s health for a whole year. The name ‘Nostitz’ has been written in pencil on the title-page. Purchased 1933. (66459) 3694, 3695. NOTES On astronomy 1888-1903. 1 vol. in 2. 1314 pp.+ 6 bl. 11. folio. 28 x21cm. [c. 1905.] Half-calf binding. Closely written in blue green, purple and red inks. The date 1905 occurs on p. 173, and the eclipse of that year is mentioned on p. 1214: on p. 1213 the year 1910 is spoken of in the future tense. Purchased 1931. (75856) 3696. NOTT (Sarah) [& others]. Collection of cookery receipts, and a few medical receipts : with additions by various hands. 44 pp.+ 51 11. (last 5 bl.). 4to. 23^x18+cm. 1701 [-c. 1820.] Original gilt-stamped calf binding. Text within red rules. Inside the upper cover is an inscription: ‘ Sar[ah] Nott her Book given me by my Dear Spouse in the year 1701 ’. Purchased 1928. (77240) 3697. NOTTICE sur quelques plantes médicinales. Followed by a collec tion of medical and miscellaneous receipts : in French. 39 11. +19 pp. + 70 11. (last 3 bl.). 4to. 19J x 15 cm. [c. 1785-I1795. Original calf-gilt binding with flap and brass lock, the upper part of which has been cut out: green silk end-papers. Headings in red. Written mostly on pages of a green-lined cash book in which the date 1783 is found on a stump facing Receipt No. 10 of the third section. The first section contains notes on 208 medicinal plants and their uses. This is followed by a collection of medical and miscellaneous receipts (18 pp.), by a later hand: the date 1795 is found on p. 10. P. 19 to the end of the volume contains 165 receipts in all, of which 1-161 are by the original hand, and four at the end by the second hand.
