Correspondence. The file includes Paton's oral evidence (representing RDS) at a meeting of the LD50 Sub-Committee (13 January, 1978) at the Home Office, and includes the oral evidence of Dr Alfred Spinks to the same Committee (10 February, 1978). The Committee's terms of reference were: "To enquire into the experimental procedure involving living animals which is known as the LD50 test ... to consider the extent of its use in accordance with statutory requirements ... and the scientific necessity and justification for the test...."
