Notes

Luz Valencia comes from Venezuela. Came to London originally to study fine art, then lived in Madrid and Barcelona for two years and is currently in Manchester. She is a practicing artist. On the plinth she will be dressed in Amazonian dress and is here to express the idea of freedom of expression in relation to current issues in Venezuela whereby freedom of speech is being slowly diminished. Talks of her life in Venezuela and visits she has made to the Amazon. Her dad run a foundation in the Amazon so it is something that has been important to her from a young age.
