Representations of the absorbent vessels. See the article Lymphatics, and the System of Anatomy, part 1 section 5, and part 4 section 3. This figure is drawn from nature by F. Blake; the absorbent vessels were added to it by Dr. Roberts, and the whole engraved by C. Warren. It was form'd from an idea of the late Dr. William Hunter, who to exhibit a general view of the absorbent system, supposed a figure to be transparent, in order to show the course and distribution of this important and newly improv'd system in the human economy. It was deem'd unnecessary to trace the vessels to their numberless branches and ramifications, as it would introduce confusion in the figure and render it less useful to the faculty and to the curious observer of nature.
