About this work

Description

Correspondence concerning various Research Panel administrative matters (in the main, the circulation of reports), including the resignation of Carr from the Research Panel on his appointment to the TRC Board (see Carr's letter to Peak, 13 October, 1943).

The file also includes copy letter (20 April, 1943) from Sir Edward Mellanby to Dr Carr referring to the publication of work on penicillin, and quoting the Lord President of the Council: "I would hold up for the time being all publication of matter bearing upon the constitution of the active principle. This need not apply to purely clinical or pharmacological details." See also, attached letter (4 May, 1943) from R H Briggs, Senior Press Censor, on the same subject.
