About this work
Description
Régistre aux Décès. Commencé le 12 Nivôse an 12 [2 January, 1804] jusqu'au 24 Fructidor an 13 [11 September, 1805]. An original list of soldiers who died at this hospital, which was part of the Camp de Boulogne set up by Napoleon for his projected invasion of England. The entries are signed by Clapier 'économe du dit Hôpital' or by his successor Clairbout: the first four are also countersigned by G. F. Dufour. Pinned inside the lower cover is an official attested copy of the birth-certificate of Pierre Chassan, born at Aurillac on July 23rd 1781, dated 26 Germinal an 10 [26 April 1802]. He was Drummer in the Third Regiment of the Line, and the entry for his death, dated 28 Thermidor an 12 [15 August 1804], is on the fifth leaf. Produced in Marquise.
