About this work

Description

Copies of minutes and meeting papers, correspondence, and photocopies of the pilot scheme analysis.

The idea to form a group to produce a family planning record card emerged in 1969 when the Medical Women's Federation had raised the point at a meeting of the BMA Public Health Committee at which the Society was represented. It had been thought that the committee considering the production of a standard child record card might take on this task, but as this group was too busy the matter was referred to the Maternal and Child Health Group of the Society. The Society agreed to make the approach to representative bodies to nominate members for the Working Party. A pilot scheme was initiated, sponsored by Ortho Pharmaceutical Ltd - funding printing of the record forms and their (computer) analysis at the end the trial period.
