Description

Correspondence and papers relating to The 1984 Campaign for Freedom of Information, which was supported by the Patients Association (a council member), including agenda, minutes and papers of the Council and the Committee for Freedom of Information, press releases of the Campaign, the Campaign newsletter, material relating to the various bills the Campaign wished to introduce in Parliament, including Access to Personal Files Bill and Environmental Pollution Information Bill, material relating to the Freedom of Information (No.2) Bill and papers re FOI in the USA, handbook 'Our right to know' published by The 1984 Campaign for Freedom of Information. Also, papers of campaigning workshops and seminars on FOI, the Official Secrets Act 'Birthday' Rally organised by the Campaign for the 75th birthday of the Official Secrets Act 1911, to take place on 14 Jan, and the Freedom of Information Awards dinner and ceremony 13 Jan 1986 for contributions to FOI in 1985 (Dame Elizabeth Ackroyd was on the judging panel).

The Patients Association involvement centred around the rights of patients regarding access to their personal medical records.
