Description

Colonel John Okey, parliamentarian soldier and one of the army officers charged with overseeing the arrangements for Charles I's execution. Baptist and Congregationalist. Colonel in the New Model Army, 1645. Governor of St Bartholomew's Hospital. In 1661 deceptively captured in the Netherlands by Sir George Downing and returned to England for trial and execution for regicide
