About this work
Description
Medical common-place book, notes of cases, extracts from medical works, etc. in Latin and English, including an account in Latin of the death of Charles II (pp. 159-171). Some of the entries are dated, or the date of the book mentioned is given-the latest is 1695 on p. 173. The attribution to Phineas Fowke is based on the entry on p. 89 which begins 'Salop. Nov. 19. 89./Dr Ph. Fowke. Mrs Eliz. Halls case / As far as I understand Mrs Halls case (which is not very particularly) she seems / tending towards a dropsy ...'

1 volume pp. 47-273. 12mo. 15 × 91/2 cm. Original calf, rebound with vellum spine. Pp. 1-46 are wanting, and probably some leaves at the end.

Biographical note
Fowke graduated as M.D. Cambridge in 1668, and was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 1680 [see the Dictionary of National Biography].
