Description
This film is about the likehood of depression and the need for diagnosis and treatment. New psycho-active drugs are being discovered that can raise levels of alkalines in the brain, such as hydroxyzine (previously prescribed for for T.B.). Diagrammatic explanation shows how chemical levels affect the function of the brain. Tryphlophans are mentioned and the side effect of drowsiness (which can aid sleep in depressed patients) as well as the effectiveness of Lithium in raising serotonin levels for those suffering from manic depression. A promotional item for the drugs Parnate and Parstelin follows this film.
