About this work

Description

Presented by George Lamb, this is the first in a series of documentaries which perform 'living autopsies' on young people who are leading unhealthy lives. Stewart Burton, 25, is a heavy drinker, heavy smoker and dabbles with drugs at the weekend. The living autopsy consists of Stuart being strapped to an autopsy table in a flesh-coloured suit while state of the art graphic images are projected onto his body to show what state his organs are in. Consultant neurologist Dr. Andrew Curran performs the 'autopsy' which also calculates the biological age of Stewart's organs while Stewart's family watch from the viewing gallery. Following the autopsy, which gives Stewart an overall body age of 41, he is encouraged to change his life-style and psychiatrist Leanne Hayward lives in with him to monitor him through the changes. After following the new regime Stewart is re-tested and his biological age has dropped to 28.
